Week 14
Saludo! Klk
I hope you all are doing well. Not a ton of things have happened this week. Mostly just a lot of walking and talking to people. My dad gave me a few more questions so I'll go ahead and start with those.
1.) Spanish is alright, I can understand gringo Spanish pretty well so that's nice. When Dominicans speak though it's rough. They use very different words and talk fast and say it all wrong haha
2.) We had about 75 people come to church which was really good
3.) We walk and we walk a lot. Villa Altagracia is also on a big hill too. That's fun
4.) and I haven't eaten any weird food, pretty much just rice and beans which is pretty good so I'm good with all that
Other than that I don't have too much this week. We're mostly just starting to get to know everyone which has been pretty fun. It's awesome to see the difference between America and here. Not going to lie the people here are a little better. They're all so nice and willing to talk and help. This week we were trying to find a bus to take us back to Villa Altagracia, we were in the capital. We didn't know where to go and out of no where a Dominican who we didn't know came up to us and lead us right to the right bus. He didn't ask for anything in return. He just wanted to help.
For my spiritual thought I wanted to share a bit about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Often times I don't think we realize the magnitude of His sacrifice. He felt every pain in the world. Think about you life. Think about every single pain you've felt mentally and physically. Think about how you've felt and the loss of a loved one, when you've broken a bone, when you scratched your knee, every pain you've ever felt. Now, multiply that by the pain of every single person who has and will live. He felt every single one of their pains too. It is incomprehensible the pain he felt for us, for you. He felt it so that he would know when you're going through a hard time he knows exactly how you feel so he can help you. I love in Alma 7:11-12 it says
11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
He felt the pains of the world so he would know how to help you. He willingly felt it so he would know. I invite you all when you are struggling and feel like no one understands to turn to Christ. He loves you and He knows your pain. He is standing there with His hand stretched out hoping and begging that you will take it. I know our Savior lives and through Him we will find peace and love. He loves you and knows you.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. If you have any questions feel free to email me!
Love you all
