Week 16

Hola everyone! Como están? This week was pretty good so that was awesome, I'll start off by answering the questions given to me and then I'll end with some highlights

What is your craziest story so far?
- a really drunk lady just walked into our house this last week and wanted a Bible so that was crazy. Me and Elder Gray were writing in our journals and she just walked in.

Still liking the rice and beans?
- rice and beans are still pretty good

What gospel principle has been the most helpful during your mission
- definitely the book of mormón and the restoration. It's simple, if the Book of Mormón is true. Everything else is true too. I know that the Book of Mormon was translated by Joseph Smith who had the power and authority of God.

How have your prayers changed since you arrived in the DR?
-They have gotten way longer especially as I've come to love the people and realize their needs.

What is the temperature like? Does your house have fans?
- the temperature is normally from 80-90 every day. We don't have AC but we do have 2 fans. The only problem is that the power goes out pretty much everyday most of the time for 5+ hours and so the fans don't work. Because our house is all concrete it quickly turns into a very very humid oven.

What are your favorite things to eat and to buy at the shops?
-They have a lot of really good sweets and treats at the comados (shops) but I think my favorite stuff is the bread. For 30 pesos (about 25 cents) I get 8 pieces of bread. It's pretty great. They also have Kola Real which is just fake coke and that's always good.

Tell us stories about the people!
-The people are awesome, we had the opportunity to put a person named Leidy on date and this was super cool. If you all could pray that she will continue to grow that would be awesome

Tell us about the currency. How much $$ do you receive each month? Is it on a debit card?
- we get about 6000 pesos and 50 pesos is 1 dollar. We have a debit card but as soon as we get money we take it out at an atm and use cash for the week. Not very many places accept cards. Also nobody accepts big bills so that's kinda annoying.

How often do you have Zone Conferences and how often do you see the President?
-we have Zone Conferences once a transfer and that's when we see presidente.

How many times did the power go out this week?
-The power went out everyday I think.

Are you getting better at Dominoes? Did you beat anyone this week? Any locals?
-I'm getting better but not to the local level

Anyways as I'm writing this I'm crammed in a taxi with 7 full grown men. "There is always room for one more."

I don't have much time but for the spiritual thought today. I just wanna say God loves all of you. it's true.

Love you all
Elder Jonah Greer
