Week 17

 Hola! Como están? I hope you're all doing well and are healthy. Also no one really sent me questions and not much happened this week so this email will be a little short. 


We got sick this week which was a little rough but all is good. 

Also we have new neighbors and they're kinda annoying. They drink and smoke allllll the time and so it makes our house smell bad. But the other day they were out smoking and drinking and their kids were just running around and one of the parents left a beer bottle unattended. A little girl who's like 6 years old grabs this beer bottle and takes a swig. We're just watching through our window in shock. Then she takes another swig. Finally the parents take it from her. We're just like what did i just see. The standards really are different here haha. 

At a lesson the other day we were just talking to a member outside and then all of the sudden, his moto tire just pops. We have no idea why but that was definitely interesting

We also found a huge centipede outside our house and so that was super cool. 

For my spiritual thought I found something that I really liked in Alma chapter 5. In reality all of chapter 5 was really really good but I want to focus on verse 27 it says, 

"Have ye walked, keeping yourselves blameless before God? Could ye say, if ye were called to die at this time, within yourselves, that ye have been sufficiently humble? That your garments have been cleansed and made white through the blood of Christ, who will come to redeem his people from their sins?"

This verse is pretty straightforward and simple. If you were to die at this moment, would you leave this world feeling confident that you will receive the highest glory. Oftentimes this is a difficult question to ask. But I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can be prepared every single day. He loves us and wants us to return to Him. He has prepared a way and all we have to do is take His hand and follow. Repenting and changing when we need to. He loves us.

  I'm not a huge fan of writing emails but apparently people want me to write more. Therefore I am going to default to bulletpoints This was a super awesome awesome week and it had a lot of miracles - I'm starting to really love Oregon. The weather is beautiful and the branch is amazing. I've never seen a more unified branch and I'm honored to be a part of it.  - We got to talk to a very drunk guy who had a really big Bible in Guatemala so that was sweet. We also talked to a guy smoking a cigar that says we should wear baby clothes to protect us so maybe I'll take that into consideration.  - We got to go to the Portland temple with two new converts and this was a super cool experience. Everyone in the branch that could go went and drove the hour to support their fellow members. Week 31/32

Hola! Cómo están? I hope all is well, and I am sorry for not sending an email last week, I started it but then forgot to finish and send it. Anyways, here's my last 2 weeks On Sunday, I found out that I was going to get transferred to Las Matas, which is a very small town about 40 minutes from the Haitian border.   I spent most of Monday packing, but we had a service project with Tony, which was a lot of fun. We helped him paint a house, and that all went pretty well.   On Tuesday we spent most of the day saying goodbye to all the members. That was really sad because I had been there for 5 months and they became super good friends. That is one of the hard parts about the mission. You get used to changing really fast.   Wednesday was transfers, so we woke up at 6 and left at 8 for the capital. The guagua driver was not very pleased with how heavy our suitcases were.
