Week 39
Saludos a todos! Cómo están! This week had plbeen a pretty good week and I hope that you all have had a great week as well. This week we started our by going out to San Juan for zone pday and that was fun. We played volleyball and hung out as a zone. We then had exchanges with the ZLs and so we just stayed in San Juan until the exchange the next day. The exchange was pretty fun. It was crazy how different our areas are. My area is huge and covers an entire town and a bunch more and they're just covers a tiny part of San Juan. I definitely prefer my area.
Also on Tuesday we had zone council and that went well. Me and Elder Bowden set some really high goals and on Wednesday we really started working on them. We started talking to everybody on the street and Inviting them to church. We also had a lot of fun lessons, we did have to take Lisa off date and so that was sad. Today I also tried to start learning Creole. We have so many hatians in our area and they all want to learn about Jesus Christ. It's a very simple language to learn but the pronounce is very hard. We'll see how it goes.
Thursday I had another exchange but this time in Elias Piña which is a small town on the border of Hati. It's a super cool place and it's crazy because there they mostly teach Haitians and so sometimes the language barrier is very difficult. The people there are also extremely poor and there isn't a lot of work. I learned a ton on the exchange.
Friday I was back in my area and we had another good day of just doing the normal. We saw a herd of goats which was funny. I also found that I love the buy ice cream.
Saturday was a little slow and we did. A lot of walking but it was fun. We spent most of the day inviting people to church and so we invited a ton of people from the street.
Sunday was crazy, we had a few friends come and si that was awesome. Our brmach president also got into a fight with the Sunday school class teacher because the class went long and so that was super awkward. She then told me it was my fault for not answering questions but I'm not really sure why either fell on me.
Anyways this week was another good week. This week I want to share a poem that my Grandpa sent me a while back. I also shared this poem in my Farwell talk.
“The Road is rough,” I said dear Lord, “There are stones that hurt me so.”
And He said, “Dear child I understand, I walked it long ago.”
“But there’s a cool green path,” I said, “Let me walk there for a time.”
“No child” He answered me, “That green road does not climb.”
“My burden,” I said, “Is far to great!” “How can I bear it so?”
“My burden,” said He, “I remember its weight, I carried my cross you know.”
“I wish I had friends with me,” I said, “who could make my way their own,”
“Oh yes,” He said, “Gethsemane was hard to face alone!”
And so I walked the stoney path, content at least to know,
That where my Savior once had gone, I wouldn’t have to go.
And suddenly I gained more strength, my burdens grew less sore,
For I remember long ago, He walked that way before.
I hope you enjoy and have a fantastic week!!!
Elder Jonah Greer
