Week 58

Hola buen dia! I know it's been a while since i wrote but its been busy so its okay, a ton of changes have happened so this might be interesting.

I got transferred! It was super sad leaving Las matas de Farfán because i literally knew the entire town but im also super excited for this new area.

My new area is called Piantini and it is the complete opposite of Las matas, it is deep capital and the richest area on the mission, our ward is also crazy, it has 4 american families including our bishop, they're all here to work at the embassy.

Most of the americans here dont speak very much spanish and so i get to translate everything, the first time it was really rough and i felt super bad for the people listening but i think it is getting better.

We also have the temple in our area so that is super awesome. This means thats most of the 70s are also in our ward. My first sunday here the stake president, 2 70s, and the mission president all came. It was very powerful

My companion is also super awesome, he is from Guatemala and was baptized 2 years ago this week. He is super awesome and loves to work. He only has 3 months in the mission so he just finished his training.

Tropical Storm Franklin: on monday we got news that a fairly large storm was heading straight for the Dominican Republic, last time this happned the houses of the people in our area went completely under water. on Tuesday morning we got a message from president saying that we couldn't leave the house Tuesday or Wednesday, it was incredibly boring and luckily the worst didn't hit the capital, we got a lot of rain and a little bit of flooding but it was much better that we thought it would be.

I have also learned being here in the capital that i have access to everything and it is so nice. I still do love the feel of the country and being limited to what what there is there.

We have to move houses soon

My dad also sent me some questions so ill answer those as well

Describe your new area in three words or more?
- very rich and the members are amazing

What is the biggest difference between your new area and your old area?
- everything, literally nothing is the same other than the fact that we eat beans and rice every single day.
Tell us about your companion and his family.
- read above ^^^

What is the biggest change that you have noticed in yourself since you left Gilbert, Arizona?
- I think the biggest change ive realized is that i reallt dont need much to be happy. there are so many kids and adults here that have nothing and they are still the happiest people i have met. True happiness comes from friends and families and your perspective on life. I think the biggest change ive seen is that now im not looking to the world for happiness.

What do you like most about being in the Dominican Republic?
- definitely the people and the culture
What do you like most about the Dominican People?
- they are so kind and always want to give what they have. They are always super open to help and to talk.

Anyways my spiritual thought is short but important, this week while translating there was a theme between all the talks. They were all about patriarchal blessings and said one thing in common: If you havent read yours in a while, read it! If you haven't got it, think about getting it. I know it will bless your life!
