Week 78

 

Hola! Como estan? Espero que esten super bien!!its been a while since I've written and so i apologize for that. The time has been passing by like crazy and no that i'm in a 4 man house again our p days are super busy.

These last few weeks we've been working super hard these last few week. Its been awesome being with a comp that has time on the mission because we both know what we are doing, how to teach, how to find, the language, everything.

New years here was super crazy, we slept up on the roof and had a great time. There was tons and tons of fireworks and music that played on full blast until 8am

So far bani has been an awesome area, it is the perfect mix between the capital and the south.

Also idk if you guys remember but 2 weeks ago i met Jose Ramirez in the streets. I was able to get one of his baseball cards and this week i was able to get it signed by him. It was awesome.

We have done a lot and lot of finding and have found upwards of 15 people every week. Sometimes its frustrating when the people don't want to progress but it has been so cool to talk to so many people from different walks of life.

Were teach some really cool people

One of them is named Erika and she is super smart. She was a reference from facebook but at first she lived too far away to be able to progress. Recently we felt like we should text her and it turns out she had moved closer and so we could teach her. She quickly started to learn the lessons and ask questions. Her and her sister also accepted the invitation to be baptized and came to church yesterday. She'll be able to be baptized in February. God works through miracles

Another person we started teaching is named shayra, she is the friend of a recent convert and she had brought shayra to a baptism. This baptism was difficult because right as it started a political parade showed up and started blasting music to the point where we couldn't hear anything. I was worried that she was having a bad time but then after the baptism she came up and said that she also wanted to be baptized! It was so amazing. She then came to church yesterday

Anyways i would like to finish with a spiritual thought about the Book of Mormon. This book is the best and i promise that is you guys can read it you will see a massive change in your life. While teaching erika this week she asked us "why doesn't everyone read this book, they must not know the beauty of what it tells the soul" she after 2 weeks of reading has realized the power of this book. She told us that it feels like it filled a void that she didn't know she had. I invite you to read and pray about the Book of Mormon and I promise that you will be able to receive answers to question you didn't know you had.

  I'm not a huge fan of writing emails but apparently people want me to write more. Therefore I am going to default to bulletpoints This was a super awesome awesome week and it had a lot of miracles - I'm starting to really love Oregon. The weather is beautiful and the branch is amazing. I've never seen a more unified branch and I'm honored to be a part of it.  - We got to talk to a very drunk guy who had a really big Bible in Guatemala so that was sweet. We also talked to a guy smoking a cigar that says we should wear baby clothes to protect us so maybe I'll take that into consideration.  - We got to go to the Portland temple with two new converts and this was a super cool experience. Everyone in the branch that could go went and drove the hour to support their fellow members. Week 31/32

Hola! Cómo están? I hope all is well, and I am sorry for not sending an email last week, I started it but then forgot to finish and send it. Anyways, here's my last 2 weeks On Sunday, I found out that I was going to get transferred to Las Matas, which is a very small town about 40 minutes from the Haitian border.   I spent most of Monday packing, but we had a service project with Tony, which was a lot of fun. We helped him paint a house, and that all went pretty well.   On Tuesday we spent most of the day saying goodbye to all the members. That was really sad because I had been there for 5 months and they became super good friends. That is one of the hard parts about the mission. You get used to changing really fast.   Wednesday was transfers, so we woke up at 6 and left at 8 for the capital. The guagua driver was not very pleased with how heavy our suitcases were.
