Jonah's Mission

  This week was relatively slow but that's okay cause that's just how it goes sometimes so here's a quick run down of the week.  Tuesday: I honestly have no idea what we did so this day will be omitted.  Wednesday: we made a tonnnn of treats and baked goods for members which was a ton of fun. We definitely burnt a lot but it's okay. we decided it was the thought that counted. And who expects 4 Elders to be able to cook? We spent the day delivering them and this was super cool and fun. The members are probably the most important part of missionary work.  Thursday:I went on exchanges with Elder Pugmire and that was a lot of fun. I found out 2 things. One, that Elder pugmire and me have a ton in common. Number 2, English work is wayyyy different from Spanish work in the states. There are pros and cons to both but right now I'm on the side that spanish has more pros. I might be biased.  Friday: not too much happened today. Kinda just a normal day of missionary ...

  I'm not a huge fan of writing emails but apparently people want me to write more. Therefore I am going to default to bulletpoints This was a super awesome awesome week and it had a lot of miracles - I'm starting to really love Oregon. The weather is beautiful and the branch is amazing. I've never seen a more unified branch and I'm honored to be a part of it.  - We got to talk to a very drunk guy who had a really big Bible in Guatemala so that was sweet. We also talked to a guy smoking a cigar that says we should wear baby clothes to protect us so maybe I'll take that into consideration.  - We got to go to the Portland temple with two new converts and this was a super cool experience. Everyone in the branch that could go went and drove the hour to support their fellow members. It was super special.  - We had a mission tour and Elder Nash who is the president over all the missionary work in the world came and spoke to us. He taught us about the importance of the mem...

  Hola!  I made it to Oregon and it's so awesome here. It's so beautiful and I love it.  Saying goodbye to my district was tough but I know that everyone is where they're supposed to be. Anyways I got to Oregon and it's been super great.  We stayed the night in Oregon on Wednesday and then on Thursday I met my trainer. My trainer's name is Elder Dodd and he's super cool. He pushes me hard and I'm super thankful for it.  We traveled to our area (which is Albany) and then got right to work. We started knocking doors and Elder Dodd was like you got the first one in spanish, of course the first door we knock on opens and so I start introducing ourselves. She said that she had a few moments so I shared a scripture with her. She enjoyed it and kept the Book of Mormon so that was super awesome.   Hola a Todos!  I hope you are all doing well.  A this is my final week in the mtc there is not much that is going on.  I got my travel itinerary for the Dominican Republic this week but I currently do not have my visa so I'm not sure what is happening.  I really do not want to get reassigned but I know that God has a plan and there are people that need to get taught the gospel everywhere.  Spanish is coming along, i'm definitely not fluent but i think that ill be okay.  I guess we will see when I get there haha.  I'm especially grateful for the 1 way mirror that we have in our classroom.  I don't know why it is there but it is a lot of fun.  I am also grateful for my Spanish teacher Hermano Wilson.  He is the best and has taught me a ton of spanish.  This week I finished going through the Atonement section in the topical guide.  This was an awesome experience.  ...

Man the weeks go by and not to much happens so idk know what to say. I've been playing a ton of volleyball and I think I'm getting pretty good. People always ask if I played in school so I guess that's a good sign. Spanish classes have been super fun. I'm learning a ton of Spanish even. I'm no where near fluent and I know once I get get in the DR where they don't even really speak Spanish anyway I'll be lost but I know that the gift of tongues is real and so it will be okay. I got to sing in the choir and there were 706 missionaries in it. It was so beautiful and I felt the spirit super strong. Choir is definitely one of the highlights for the mtc. One spiritual thought I had came on Sunday. On Sundays we have what's called a "go and do" experience where all 1600 missions go and study the same topic.   Hola a todos!        I hope this letter finds you all well. My first week in the mtc has been pretty good. There's lots.of pros and cons but I have been super happy as I learn how tk speak the language the lord needs me tk teach. Throughout this week I have learned that the gift of tounges is really. I have learned Spanish so fast and I think I've learned more than in the 3 years I took in school. I've also seen the people in my class that have never learned Spanish be able to form complete conversations. Although I know the mission field will be much different I know that it'll be okay.           Another awesome thing is that e Elder Gong   came to   speak to us on Tuesday.   Hola mis familia y amigos     I hope you all are doing well. This week had been a pretty good week so far. Yesterday we had the opportunity to teach Yomi who is a either a pretend investigator or a actual investigation they don’t tell us. That went pretty well and we were able to teach her about the love God has for her and all of his children. She ended up excepting our invitation to pray and we are going to meet with her again soon.           Another thing that happened this week is we found our first love scorpion in our house. While I was in class my sisters started screaming then my phone started blowing up with messages about a scorpion downstairs.
